Berry had a seizure and stopped breathing Friday at his home. He was pronounced dead that evening at a hospital, said his wife, Gertie Berry. Xinhua said Chen successfully reattached the severed right hand of an injured factory worker in 1963 the first operation of its kind. Chen, a professor at Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai, also worked with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Karl Joachim Weintraub, 79 Students lined up to take popular prof's class CHICAGO Karl Joachim Weintraub, a longtime University of Chicago professor who was so popular with students that they would sleep in line to register for his class, died Thursday, according to the university. He was 79. Weintraub taught a course on Western history and culture for about 50 years. He died of a brain tumor in the university's Bernard Mitchell Hospital. Each spring students would line up for hours on campus to get a spot in his class.

The student newspaper once reported the annual event under a headline: "Waiting for Weintraub." Although he was failing in health, Weintraub met with his classes until 2002. He had technically retired, but continued his teaching and refused to accept a salary. 13, 1923, in Kewanee, a son of Faras and Alice (Wemple) Nahra. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Finkenhoefer on Oct. 18, 1958, in Davenport at Holy Family Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1999.

Fayes graduated from Wethersfield High School, Kewanee. He served our country during World War II as a member of the United States Coast Guard. Following his services to our country, he worked for U.S. Steel, Gary, Indiana and served his electricians apprenticeship. He retired in 1983 after twenty-five years employment with the Rock Island Arsenal.

He was a lead electrician at the time he retired. His memberships included Holy Family Church; Moose Lodge; BPOE No. 298; American Legion Post No. 26; Holy Name Society; Plus 60 and NARFE. In earlier years he enjoyed bowling and golfing as hobbies.

The times Fayes cherished most and he found the most enjoyment where when he was in the company of family and friends. Memorials can be made to Holy Family Church or to Hospice of Comfort, Manchester, Iowa. Survivors include sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Nahra, Manchester, Iowa, and their children, Samantha and Danielle, and Michael Nahra, Chicago, and his daughter, Aleesa; sisters, Robinette Chandler, Otisville, Alice VanKerrebroeck, Atkinson, and Catherine Hepner, Rural Cambridge, brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Lynda Nahra, Milan, Ill. and John and Judy Nahra, Tulsa, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife.

Buck also loved the outdoors, camping, spending time with his family, animals and collecting horse and deer figurines. He was also an avid casino and roller coaster enthusiast. Buck is lovingly survived by his wife Darlene, Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Dean Gless, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry, Davenport, Daniel and Rebecca, Davenport, Rod and Pam, Indianapolis, grandchildren, Windy and husband, Todd Lenox, Enoch and wife, Jazmin Gooch, Donald Gless, Samantha Hill, Justin Hill, and Virginia Hill; great-grandchild, Kylieliana Gooch, sisters and brother-inlaw, Thelma Broderick, Bettendorf, Louise Goodale, Davenport, Dorothy Musal, LeClaire, Tracey and Lloyd Hoos, Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy Dee (Helen) Doland was born Sep. 2, 1920, to George and Helen (Canter) Doland in Chicago, Ill. She married Ronald O.J. Olson in September of 1945 in Chicago. Ronald preceded her in death and Glen Settum became her long time companion also preceding her in death.

She was retired from Ruhl and Ruhl Real Estate where she had worked as a real estate sales agent for many years. Among her many memberships included the Davenport Outing Club, Davenport Country Club as well as active involvement in many area Bridge Clubs. Chancey Nile Moore Mr. Moore TIPTON, Iowa Chancey Nile Moore, 85, of Tipton, Iowa, died March 26, 2004, in Iowa City. Chancey was born Sep. 22, 1918, the son on Leonard Lee Moore and Laura Isabel Heaster. He married Delores Mae Koranda on Feb.

Her blonde beauty and dramatic intensity made her a movie star in such films as "Johnny Belinda," "Caged," "Flesh and Fury," "Split Second," "The Human Jungle," "Women's Prison," "Female on the Beach" and "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue." Memorial funeral services for Annette will be Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine.

Pastor Arturo Carranza will officiate the services. Honorary casketbearers are Daniel Orr, Joe Orr, Kevin Chick, Michael Reichert, Mitchell Reichert, Bruce Reichert, Steve Orr, Larry Orr, Dennis Chick and Frank Kelly. Annette was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Pearl City Sam's Camping Club. She dearly enjoyed spending time with her close and dear friends at the Cottage Grove Community Center. Annette will be deeply missed by her two sons, Steven Orr and his wife, Miriam, of Wapello, Iowa, and Larry Orr and his wife, Cathy, of Nichols; three daughters, Diane Orr-Kelly and her husband, Frank, Cheryl Chick and her husband, Dennis and Barbara Orr, all of Muscatine; four step-sons, Richard Reichert, David Reichert and his wife, Gwen, Danny Reichert and his wife, Shelly and Alan Reichert all of Muscatine; three step-daughters, Cathy Reichert, Karen Haney and her husband, Marc and Nancy Briles and her husband, Scott, all of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; 14 grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren.
